Project Overview
The Konokawachi Dam project is part of a government-run enterprise Miyakonojo Basin water usage plan. The purpose of the dam is to ensure the irrigation water to the the Konokawachi River, the Oyodogawa River System. This rockfill dam has an impervious zone in its core. The height of the dam is 64.3m, the crest length is 409.7m, and dam volume is 1.5 million m3. Total reservoir capacity is 6.27 million m3. Dam construction began in 1999, and the filling of the dam was completed in August 2006. Completion of the entire project is scheduled for the end of fiscal 2009.
