Taking Global Environmental Conservation Initiatives as an Environmentally Advanced Company

To fulfill our corporate social responsibility as a construction company that coexists with the natural environment, we at Nishimatsu Construction will take the following initiatives to reduce our global environmental footprint and pass a healthy global environment on to the next generation.

1. We will pursue decarbonization to help create a carbon-free society.

  • We will strive to reduce all CO2 emissions generated from our business activities.

We will reduce net CO2 emissions generated from all our business activities in FY2030 chiefly by taking a range of measures to reduce CO2 and using renewable energy.

  • We will work to reduce CO2 emissions from building operations.

We will strive to enhance by FY2030 the ZEB (net zero energy building) design technology that we have established.

To enhance ZEB technology, we will accumulate knowledge, doing demonstration experiments, and will reduce CO2 emissions at the office buildings we have developed by 75% in FY2030 from FY2009.

  • We will calculate indirect CO2 emissions produced upstream and downstream of the Company's business activities (Scope 3) every fiscal year.

2. We will conduct biodiversity conservation activities in consideration of biodiversity to live with nature.

  • We will conduct biodiversity conservation activities at every construction site.
  • We will continue to conduct coral reef conservation activities as an International Year of the Reef 2018 official supporter certified by the Ministry of the Environment.

3. We will pursue zero waste emissions to help create a recycling-oriented society.

  • We will strongly promote 3R activities and keep the ratio of landfill to the final disposal of construction waste below 3%.
  • We will continue to issue electronic manifestos (industrial waste management forms) for all industrial waste to promote the effective use of resources.

4. We will provide environmental education to all employees to raise their environmental awareness.

  • We will encourage employees to achieve Environmental Specialists certification, which contributes to raising environmental awareness, and keep the ratio of certified employees high, at 90% (approx. 2,300 employees).
  • We will hold environmental seminars, inviting experts, every year to raise all employees' environmental awareness and increase their knowledge.
  • We will hold internal environmental workshops for all employees every year to comply with environmental laws and regulations and respond to societal expectations for the environment.

Nishimatsu Construction will make public progress with the initiatives above as needed in corporate reports or on the website and will report it to the Ministry of the Environment.
